Move Over Hugo!
Contributed by The Gray Dog

“The other day, the oil companies reported the highest profits in the history of the world.  I want to take those profits and I want to put them into a strategic energy fund that will begin to fund alternative smart energy… alternative and technologies that will begin to actually move us toward the direction of independence.”

If I had heard those words pour out of the mouth of Exxon/Mobil Chairman and CEO Rex Tillerson, I might have applauded the sentiment as an exciting new venture by the Oil Giant with the intention of breaking new profit records for years to come.  But, when I discovered that this remark was attributed to the bilious bitch that just happens to be a United States Senator, ex-First Lady and current Presidential Candidate, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Laugh, because it has taken less than a week into her official campaign to shed the centrist façade she has carefully fashioned over the past several years.  Cry, because there were far too many in attendance with blood-lust in their eyes, gleefully nodding assent instead of shivering with fear from such an outrageous statement.

Great post, Gray Dog.  I urge people to go here and relish the spectacle of Hillary the Moderate letting the inner maoist that has lurked in her bosom ever since her days at Wellesley leer at us, eyes blazing and teeth gleaming.  The audience--DNC members all, either professional pols or semi-pro activists--ecstatically approved her fantasy of confiscating Exxon's profits to pursue her own goals.  How depressing that these Dems are incapable of doing a simple division and learning that Exxon's profit margin in the lush 4th quarter amounted to less than 10 cents on the dollar.  That is modest by American standards.  Far less than the almost 16% raked in by Citicorp, under the direction of Jesse Jackson's patron Sanford Weil and Billary's pal Robert Rubin.

Of course, the demagogues of both parties know that they can get away with this kind of stuff because of the woeful ignorance of the general public in politico-economic matters.  If people had a brain where their insatiable appetite for TV is, they'd know that government revenues generated by the gas-and-oil industry far exceed the industry's profits.

Sounds like the rebirth of Jimmah's Wind Fall profits tax doesn't it? Best way I know to shut down the energy industry's research and development. Hellary can certainly put that money toward better use....and she tells us she'll end this damn war too on her first day in office. She'll declare victory in the war on terror...amnesty for deserters is not far behind.

I'll be out in the back yard working on the bunker.

Somebody today remarked that Hillary is Hugo Chaves in a pants suit. What's really too bad, is now, we have Republicans acting like liberal Democrats and Democrats acting like Socialists. I am wondering how long before a majority of americans vote Democracy away like the venezuelans just did for the promise of three hots and a flop.
